New York's Agora Gallery recognizes Anna's talent!
"The paintings exhibit strength in a resolute style of work; with radiant forms emerging and dissolving out of equally radiant ground, and conveying an infinite number of emotions. One soon discovers that work is not about recognition and definition of form but a formidable, un-definable energy that saturates perception with a sublime lyricism. Excellent work."
Angela Di Bello 2006
Director of Agora Gallery / Editor-in-Chief of ArtisSpectrum Magazine, New York, USA
"The paintings of Anna Crawley send out a wave of aqua-marine energy that entrances the viewer like a seductive nymph. The artist creates these powerful, otherworldly images using a palette of diverse cool hues and the attention of a miniaturist. In fact, the incredible details in Crawley's works are as important to the overall sense of the composition as the easily noticeable larger forms. The geometric and free-flowing patterns she creates often contain a silhouette of a recognizable object, be it a flower or a human figure. Like the brilliant pattern-maker Gustav Klimt, Crawley mixes the abstract with the figurative, creating a complete synthesis of content and form. Her patterns vary as much in different works as within one painting; and in crisscrossing and intermingling, they form an ethereal network. By paying attention to the smallest details, Crawley creates seamless paintings, where the brushstrokes and the pigment's physicality remain if not invisible, then certainly irrelevant."
