Post NZ - NY Exhibition 4 May, 2006

What a great night!

On arrival to the venue, I took a quick look around at the final result of the work that I, and a lot of other unmentioned names, had contributed to make this night happen.  It is the most satisfying feeling one can get. I was just glowing from the sheer thrill of the high I felt.  It was a great reward for the heartbreaking sacrifices I had made to reach this point.

Over 100 people attended and what a joy it was to meet and chat to them.  I so enjoy talking to genuine souls.  I was touched by the support and encouraging words regarding my artworks.

The Associate Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage - Hon. Judith Tizard gave a lovely speech of encouragement and support for me and my work, much appreciated.

During the evening, and over the following days, I was invited to exhibit at various exhibitions and fundraisers.  I am very happy to be participating in them all. Unfortunately, I couldn't accept them all due to timing but hopefully next year.

As with all artists, we all hope and wish that we will sell enough paintings to get us through until the next sale.  This night I was lucky indeed.  I was so busy talking to people that it was only towards the end of the evening when I realised most of the paintings were sold - even the unfinished pieces we hung up to fill space which demonstrated the initial layers in my work.  Although people couldn't see what was 'not finished' about the pieces, I insisted that I would 'finish' the paintings before I hand them over.

Then to top it all off, TV3's Nightline News did an amazing piece to end their news that evening. I thank David Farrier as well as to the great camera work.
